We're going to GENCON, baby
Plus: not one, but TWO free games
JANUARY: IT'S HERE
You know it. We know it. It's inescapably January, and we can't do anything to change that short of overthrowing the secret cadre of Gregorian Monks who use the calendar to keep us down. (That's right: January is a conspiracy. Think about it.)
Anyway, news:
HEART IS TEXT-COMPLETE
It's been about eighteen months of work, but: we've finally finished writing words into the increasingly unwieldy google doc that houses the entirety of the text for Heart. It's a little over 100,000 words at present, so please make sure to buy extra reading glasses to prepare for its arrival. It's currently with Helen Gould, our fantastic editor, who's correcting all of Grant's seemingly random punctuation and capitalisation and making it legible.
Now, we're focusing on getting the supplements done so we can launch them at the same time as the core book - we're just finishing up on Absolution, which is a guide to making your own havens then destroying them with implacable angels, and we're about to start Doors To Elsewhere.
WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS
January's free one-page game is about inconsequential magical adventure. Will you uncover the secrets of the seagull druids? Will you win the Ice Cream Contest, whatever that is? And can you figure out what those spooky goths are up to?

GENCON 2020
We're going to GenCon again! What's more, this time we're lucky enough to be featured as part of the Entrepreneur's Avenue, which means you'll be able to buy books directly from us and our handsome friends. GenCon will also coincide with the official US release of Heart, which is so exciting that we might pop. In fact, on that subject...

HEART ART INKING
Felix Miall, our illustrator for Heart, is hard at work putting ink on paper - we've received the pencil sketches for all the art in the core book, and they look fabulous. Here's a picture of him drawing which he sent us yesterday as proof.
Here's a picture of him just casually fanning out beautiful artwork like it was common-or-garden blank paper. Working with Felix has been absolutely brilliant - he's thrown himself headlong into the project, and he's really helped define the world of Heart.
WE'RE GOING TO FLORENCE, SOMEHOW
On the off-chance you're in Florence this weekend and you fancy playing some roleplaying games, why not pop along to the Roleplay Gathering 2020? Chris and Grant are going to be there to spread the word about RRD, run some games (in English, mind) and definitely not just skive off and eat incredible Italian food all weekend. Learn more at their official website.
SEANS BEAN STAR IN: A VERY NORTHERN CHRISTMAS
Look - we forgot to tell you about this one when we put it out last month. Rest assured it's good. It's a one-page RPG in which you play five Seans Bean (each) trying to survive to the end of a movie that you also have to write, shoot, light and cater. It's very high concept, very experimental. Daring stuff.
Download it from our site here.
SPIRE TRANSLATIONS
If you want to run Spire but can't stand reading words in English, good news: we've just secured two deals to translate it into Italian and French respectively. And maybe Spanish, too, soon. We'll make sure to shout about them when they're available.
Right! That's everything. Big month. Stay fresh, we love you, take care of each other,
- Grant, Chris and Maz
