Two free games, Heart RPG pre-orders open, Dragonmeet and more

Yes: we missed a month. Maybe two. But we're here now, aren't we?

It's November!

Yes: we missed the September email. We also missed the October email. It's been a busy time for us - we had our big yearly Kickstarter, after all. Now: would it have been a good idea to publicise it through this email? Doubtlessly.

Anyway, on to the interesting things:

HEART RPG PRE-ORDERS ARE LIVE

If you missed out on our Kickstarter for Heart: The City Beneath, you can pre-order yourself a copy of our upcoming bodyhorror dungeoncrawl game through our pre-order store here. You can also get discounts on bundles of all of our older games - so that's all of Spire, Goblin Quest, Royal Blood, and PDFs of Unbound, One Last Job, etc.

The Kickstarter, by the way, was a tremendous success - we pulled in just shy of a hundred grand, which is pretty cool! We're throwing a bunch of that back into the book production side of things, and we're using what's left over to make sure that Chris and Grant can be paid their salaries even in an emergency.

ELECTRIC BASTIONLAND

We're handling the Kickstarter and production management for Chris McDowell's new game Electric Bastionland.

In the strange and ever-changing city of Bastion, you play a desperate treasure seeker with a failed career (there are 100 in the book, all of them illustrated) and a massive debt. We've been fans of Chris' work for a while, and Electric Bastionland syncs up with the way we tell stories and make games, so we were really excited to work with him on this.

Take a look at the Kickstarter!

REVERSE BEASTMASTER

So: you're like a normal beastmaster, except instead of being able to issue orders to animals you absolutely have to do everything an animal tells you to do. Grant wrote this in collaboration with Nate Crowley (who did all of the art and most of the jokes, really) and the best part of it is you get to pretend to be a horrible, selfish animal and tell your friends what to do. Download it from our website here.

DICEBREAKERS ACTUAL PLAY

Grant went down to Brighton to play Reverse Beastmaster with the Dicebreaker crew (and co-creator Nate Crowley) which involved putting a sock on his hand, as you can see. It's about as ridiculous as you'd expect, but filmed in a professional studio, which gives it an air of respectability that it definitely doesn't deserve. Watch it on YouTube here.

BE PREPARED

A one-page horror game about scouts trapped in the woods and the formless, ancient terror that's trying to eat them before they escape. All the skills are merit badges! Download it from our site here.

DRAGONMEET 2019

We're going to be there! Swing by our stand in the exhibition hall - we'll be on the UK Indie RPG League stall, as usual - and say hello. And, you know, buy stuff. We'll sign it!

Grant and Chris are also recording a live episode of Hearty Dice Friends, their games advice/design podcast, in the Mezzanine Podcast Zone at 10:30am, and quite honestly they'd appreciate you coming along to fill out the seats. It can get real lonely in that podcast zone.

Okay, that's all for now. Stay warm out there, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, and if you're not in the Northern Hemisphere, please make sure to wear sunscreen. For those of you in the middle: we don't know. Maybe stick one leg out from under the covers to play it safe.

Cheers,

  • Chris, Grant and Maz
